Anyway, the weekend passed in a blur of sitting around, baking, cooking and more sitting around watching Annie play. As you will see in the photos, we only left the cabin for a total of maybe 2 hours. It was really relaxing, and a nice way to spend the long weekend! Definitely the last time we'll get up to the cabin until baby boy comes along, so that's weird to think about.

Thanksgiving morning, Annie very excited to be at the cabin - first thing she wants to play with are the coasters. Whatever.

I got to work making Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Pumpkin Cream Cheese muffins - a perfect Thanksgiving breakfast! The muffins were kind of labor intensive for muffins, but seriously so delicious. (I just kind of pushed a tablespoon of the cooled cream cheese mixture into the muffin, by the way - didn't do the layering she suggests in the recipe)

Annie was THRILLED with her "muffit"

This makes 24 muffins, but we only had one muffin tin up there, so I just made the rest of it into a cake with cream cheese interspersed throughout - worked out fine, just needed to bake longer!

We didn't actually celebrate Thanksgiving on the day, because Liz and Jono couldn't come up until Friday - so we just hung around and did basically nothing on Thursday.

Weather was tolerable so we had a little fire

Going back up the stairs is really hard work, apparently.

Annie got to work coloring the Turkey. Really great skills she's got there, huh? (it's a leftover one my sister started 3 years ago - not sure why my mom kept it but Annie enjoyed it!)

LOTS of reading time over the weekend

Playing with her new doll, the one she named Nola. The shorts were doubling as socks here.

A great use for leftover cranberry sauce - put over cream cheese and have with crackers!

Maggie, so tired.

Annie disappeared downstairs for awhile - we found her in the furnace room, having dragged some diapers and wipes from her room in there - she loved being able to REALLY play alone down there - thankfully she doesn't get into much!

Someday this will be her bed... hope she's ready for that!

Our Thanksgiving meal - black bean soup and cornbread!

Aw, such a cute pic of my 2 loves.

Chilly morning on Friday!

Took a walk with Ben later - Do you like her "boy" boots and jacket? Yup, that's all she's getting now so that her baby brother can wear that stuff too :)

Ha

Playing with more new toys

Very nervous being too close to Maggie!

Our one outing was to Nisswa's Festival of Lights - aka the lamest lighting festival ever, but something to do!

Annie enjoyed the mini donuts

Annie was enthralled with this spectacular live nativity. I mean, really - just LOOK at the detail.

After the lights came on - tried out the night portrait - yeah doesn't work so hot :)

We then came home and enjoyed this delicious pumpkin chili (recipe will be on We Got Fed shortly)

Liz finally arrived, and immediately got to work on her puzzle!

And I made Ben help me knead dough for cinnamon rolls - as you can see, he was thrilled.

Annie was excited to help with the puzzle on Saturday morning

Dad got right to work with the turkey

Ben did a good job forming the rolls - so basically I mixed the dough and the filling, and he put them together because I was too tired to wait for them to rise :) Teamwork!

Annie wearing Ben's t-shirt for breakfast so as not to ruin her cute outfit by eating a sticky cinnamon roll :)

Big fan here

Cheese!

I thought the poof was dumb when I got the dress, but Annie made it cute :)

Peeking back at me

This is Annie's "PUT ME DOWN NOW" face :)

Mesmerized watching Grandma dust. It's an activity she rarely gets to observe ;)

Hey, I finally got in a picture!

Sad face

Happy face!

Liz made her first pie and documented each step. She made the Dreamy Apple Pie from Pioneer Woman and it seriously was THE BEST apple pie I've EVER had.

Annie was hanging out by the door, and came over with her boots, my scarf, hat, and jacket in hand - she convinced Grandpa to take her out despite the cool misty weather :)

Liz with her pie dough

She peeled 3 apples without breaking the peel even ONCE :) Liz wins!

Watching Jono - I told her if she stood on the chair she had to keep her hands on the table and she MOSTLY listened :)

That's one tired bunk!

Pie before baking

Turkey! Brined and with herb butter and herbs stuffed inside - delicious.

The table

and my plate

Later that night, Annie got to wear Liz's apron :)

Finished pie, finally!

Seriously delicious

I want more

By Sunday, Annie was brave enough to pet Maggie voluntarily, almost :)

Enjoying a leftover turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich before we left!

I had a thought while reading this awesome post---I really hope Ben gets you another 'album' full of your blog posts for some special occasion. You do a great job documenting everything and should have these babies in print!!
I love Annie's outfit with the pom-pom on the head!
Love the cabin .. it's beautiful!
My favorite part of Nisswa is the "Pretty Good Shopping" sign on 371. Always makes me laugh. It's not great, just meh, pretty good. Oh Northern Minnesota :)
I am glad you so thoroughly enjoyed my pie!! Might have to make that one a Thanksgiving tradition. mmmmm boy.
