Annie's first State Fair

**Blog note - I just made an option to subscribe to my posts via email if you want. It's over to the right, if you need it!**

Last weekend, as you all briefly saw in my 14 weeks post, Annie and I went to the State Fair with my mom and sister! One of my favorite posts on this blog is this one from when I went to the fair in 2008 - pre-kid, so I could really just focus on taking photos - it was really fun, and I'd love to do that again. When we went this year, many of my food picks came from this Heavy Table article.

Entering the fair
We arrived bright and early, I think a little before 9am. OK, so not that early, but as early as we could manage.

Coffee
I immediately went to go get my allotted 200mg of caffeine in the form of a vanilla latte

Grandma, Aunt Liz and Annie
Grandma, Liz and Annie listened to the band play while we waited

Watching the band

Mini donuts
First food stop was mini donuts!

KDWB morning show
Then we had to stop so my sister could watch the Dave Ryan in the morning show from KDWB

Annie's first mini donut
Annie tried her first mini donut after an unsuccessful attempt at getting all the sugar off of it - oh well :) Despite her face here, she was a fan

the fair!
Yay, we're at the fair!

Checking out the new chicks
We then went to the Miracle of Birth barn. This was where we saw a pig in labor and I had to step outside to avoid losing the mini donuts I'd just consumed. Good thing Grandma and Aunt Liz were fine taking over Annie duty.

More donuts
More donuts for Annie!

Scared of a sheep
Annie then got freaked out because this sheep decided to lick her leg

Aunt Liz and Annie watching the horses
Annie and Aunt Liz visited a few horses and this one neighed in Annie's face really loud - causing her to clutch on to Liz in fear :)

lots of people
It was a beautiful day for the first Saturday of the fair, so obviously it was packed!

Minneapple pie
Minneapple pie - the line was long but it moved quickly!

Minneapple pie
With cinnamon ice cream - SO good!

Annie gives it a thumbs up

dancing
Doing a little dancing with Liz

Honey lemonade
Honey lemonade - quite refreshing!

Eating a peach
Next up was the largest peach I have ever seen!

Eating a peach
THIS was Annie's favorite of the day, by far.

Eating a peach
Just really so happy to be eating peaches and rolling around!

Chasing Annie
Tried to escape a few times

Chasing Annie
Still, with the lens cap... give it a rest!

Chasing Annie
I think it's safe to say Annie liked the fair

Annie at the fair
In front of the Big Slide - rule #1 was no expectant mothers (weird!) so Liz took her down. I was (not so) secretly glad about this because the slide freaked me out a bit. I am kind of a pansy.

Climbing up!

There they go!

This is the happiest Annie looked on here

Annie and Aunt Liz on the big slide
Yeah, definitely scared!

Annie and Aunt Liz on the big slide
Only slightly traumatized

Pronto pups
Pronto pups - my must have fair food!

Pronto pups
I tried to share with Annie - but she just kept this bite in her mouth for seriously like 20 minutes. I tried to fish it out and she bit me really hard. Ouch!

Annie on the street
Walking around on the street. Still with the pronto pup in her mouth.

Annie on the street
Liz took these.

Peek a boo?

Mom and Annie on the carousel
I took Annie on the carousel and she was a wee bit nervous at first!

Mom and Annie on the carousel
This was her face the entire time

And then, she was done with the horse. Too bad my arm is directly in front of her face here...

Mom and Annie on the carousel
Until it stopped... then she wanted back on :)

Mom and Annie on the carousel
Wasn't about to look HAPPY about it though!

Outside Heritage Square
Then I sat around for awhile outside Heritage Square while my mom and sister took Annie shopping with them. I was beat by that point!

Cheese curds
I was super full, but rallied for some cheese curds for the 1.5 mile walk back to our house - gave one to Annie, and she wasn't really a fan - strange!!

Leaving the fair!
Goodbye fair! Special thanks to Grandma and Liz for pushing the stroller for me :)

Sigh, I wish it were always an option to go to the fair. Loved it.
