Picture time! First, a few from Ben and Annie's day alone on Sunday... they checked out a few playgrounds in Pequot Lakes!
This is where Ben discovered Annie's word for flower (dadoo)
Monday morning - the only significant rain we got the whole week!

Poor Annie got her first black eye after an unfortunate meeting with the coffee table! Thankfully didn't seem to bother her too much.
We went into Nisswa on Monday afternoon
Yeah, I wasn't getting by without sharing this smoothie with Annie!
We then visited the Nisswa Children's Library, but it was WAY too quiet for Annie there - her shrieks were not welcome!
Sliding is very serious
Trying to get Annie to look up instead of at my shoes :)
Annie REALLY does not like that life jacket :)
Cheers!
Swim in the freezing cold lake!
We went to another playground near the cabin and Annie was loving this slide, although she'd just climb up and not always actually go down :)
Yay, Grandma's here!
This is how Ben felt on the (east facing) deck the last few 90 degree days - he steered clear most of the time
More swimming!
Still a little brisk when you first get in!
Didn't want to get out, but was turning blue, so we made the decision that was enough swimming :)
Finally put up this swing that we got from Ben's parents over a year ago!
Ha, what a weirdo
I'm not sure which one was more excited to get off the boat!
Ben was obsessed with drinking "real" old fashioneds (with oranges and cherries) all the time
Screaming down at Grandpa and Dad from the deck
Annie kept putting her stacking cups on her feet and walking around with them - seriously those things are the best toy we ever bought
We got to go on a date night to The Wharf - food was eh, but the ambiance was great!
The water had warmed considerably now after a few really hot days
Very intently filling her bucket with sand
Haha, bare butt walk into the cabin
Crowded on the only dry part of the pontoon after a rainy night
I just really loved this outfit
Annie wanted my bagel enough to climb me and the chair to get it
Had to sit in the shade
Really wanted to go swimming with Dad
So we let her, naked with her life jacket
After a lot of sweaty hair, I decided to see if I could get Annie's hair into real pigtails - success!
Beautiful rainbow after the storms rolled through Friday night
I love this one because it looks like Annie is in awe of her "cool Aunt Liz" :)
Thankfully on our last day there, we got a family pic!
The ride home sucked with no AC, we did stop at a Burger King and all split some ice cream sundaes which helped. If only Annie could sleep for longer than an hour at naps! Oh well, it was worth it!

It's not just oranges and cherries, they have to be muddled with the bitters, thank you very much. And they were delicious.
Oh my. The pigtails are precious. I LOVE THEM! Looks like a fun time :o).
Those darn life jackets! They look so miserable in them, and when Mason falls down, he's like a turtle on its back, not able to right himself back up! But, safety first!!
I've been searching for some good stacking cups for my 7 month old. Great to know they're a favorite toy! What brand or where did you get yours?
I just got ours on Amazon - I don't know if these are the exact ones but they are pretty much like this:
Stacking Cups
They sell them at Babies R Us too, and probably Target although I've never looked there. They are awesome!
These pictures are amazing!! Too many to comment on, but her trying to drink with the life jacket on? Awesome. :)
ha, I LOVE the one where you are prying her head up to the camera the most. Also sad to see the shiner, but she just looks a lot tougher that way, too!
I love Nisswa! Looks and sounds like a perfect vacation! And those life jackets, or straight jackets would actually be a better term, are the pits for kids that age. Our daughter (14 months) can't move or do anything in hers...poor kid! How is a boat supposed to be fun if she can't move, eat any snacks, drink anything?!?! I guess maybe it is, since I end up doing everything for her...lol.
I can't remember what post it was - but I think you wrote about turning your carseat around, so it would be forward facing. My goal was to wait until our daughter turned 2, to turn it - but she all the sudden hated to ride in the car - so we turned it, and it didn't fix the problem. She still hates the car and I think it's actually gotten worse - because now she can't even ride 20 minutes before having a carseat meltdown (and everything from our house is at least a 20 minute car ride)! Crossing my fingers this phase is over soon …
Love the pictures, and good god your family's cabin looks perfect and picturesque. Total jealousy here. I feel like we're living in squalor when we go up to the in-law's cabin, it's so tiny and bare-bones. ;)
And yes, life jackets on babies/toddlers = not so awesome. Gus seems much happier now that we've ditched the life jacket that has that flap on the back/top for a more big-boy regular old kid's life jacket. The turtle-effect has gone down considerably and he is relatively pleasant to be with on boat rides now.
