Twins Game surprise!

My mom's birthday was this past week, and my sister and I decided to surprise her with tickets to a Twins game, because she had been wanting to go to the new stadium but hadn't yet. The surprise wasn't TOO tough, but there were a few roadblocks. First, my parents thought this weekend would be "too much family time" since we had my sister's graduation yesterday and were going out to lunch after that. Second, my mom actually expressed a preference for where we eat, which she usually didn't, so I had to say something about how Ben really wanted to eat at Sea Salt Eatery (the dinner was for his birthday too) because that was on the light rail and that's how we were going to get to the game. I also stressed a lot about the weather because of course it said PM T-storms. Luckily, it all worked out!

I got there from work around 5, and after Google Maps led me in the exact opposite direction of Sea Salt from the light rail, eventually I made it there. It was super hot, and we all had our zip up hoodies on over our Twins shirts so I made Liz give my mom her present right away - a Twins shirt. She was very surprised! Liz had also gone to my parents' house yesterday to get my Dad's shirt - we had a fear that he'd notice since it was at the top of his t-shirt pile, but luckily he didn't! Liz thankfully got 2 sizes for my mom and I took one because the Twins shirt I was wearing drove me nuts the entire day from being too short and digging into my neck, hence our matching shirts.

Didn't know if Annie would be into fried seafood (turns out - nope) so she enjoyed a peanut butter sandwich

After dinner, we drove up to Ben's dad's office and dropped Annie off to go down and spend the night at the grandparents (we still aren't ready to risk taking her to another game after this fiasco) and walked to the light rail!

Our seats were pretty good - the few times we went last year, we were always in the upper deck, so it was cool to sit lower this time. As usual, I focused more on eating and walking around than watching the game.

I was paralyzed with indecision about my food choice, so I just went with a classic hotdog (and then a kiddie cone later)

After the game was over, we waited in a huge crowd for the light rail and rode on a packed car - got to the cars JUST as it started to rain! It was a really fun night, and I'm so glad we pulled off the surprise!

My mom lucked out with a seat on the ride back.

We took Abby to the home opener this year. She did really well, but I still don't think we'll take her back till she's a little older and can understand a little more of what is going on.

Yay! Erin, I'm so glad that the surprise and game all turned out well! I was so nervous for you after we talked, but then throughout the game thought of how jealous I was lol.
