We went outside last weekend to observe Ben brewing beer - it was too cold for us to stay outside for longer than a few minutes since Annie still refuses to keep her mittens on, but it was good to feel the sun out there!
I've spent much of the morning distracted by the news of the earthquake in Japan and subsequent tsunami. It's really hard to focus or care about anything else when faced with a disaster of that magnitude. I'm heading out to San Diego with my friend Lori tomorrow night (our flight is at 9:30pm - it was by FAR the cheapest, for obvious reasons) and although it seems the impact on the west coast will be minimal, it'll still be kind of freaky to be that much closer to the devastation.
Sue (daycare) frequently tells us unprompted what a great kid Annie is - I love when I get there and she doesn't notice me immediately, so I can watch her playing with the older kids. She really loves it and is so happy there. I obviously love hearing from others that my kid is awesome too! She still gets SUPER excited and drops everything to race over to me when I get there, but I know the day will come that she will want to stay and play. It really is so amazing to just sit and watch her play and figure things out. On Monday, I was out with Kate and when I got back, Annie was over at Nate and Molly's. She had apparently been sitting in a chair for an hour, just playing with toys Mia brought her and babbling away. An HOUR. No exaggeration there either - other moms of toddlers probably know how astounding that is!

Annie is working on perfecting her death glare. She's got it down, I think.

Naked baby on the loose!

Annie still has one hell of a belly on her!

Annie was quite thrilled to discover that I had left my open laptop unattended in the living room

Working on smiling for the camera... not so much yet.

That's about all for today, just wanted to post a few pics from the last few weeks before I'm gone! Here's hoping Ben and Annie enjoy their few days together - I'm so glad I have a full day with her tomorrow, and will really only miss one day and evening with Annie before I get back on Tuesday! It's definitely a quick trip, which is perfect for my first real trip away from Annie.

I love that her mouth is open 80% of the time. I hope she's an open mouth smiler, like some Fr-auntie she knows ;)
Potbellied Baby is one of my many nicknames for The Rooster. Glad he's not the only one!
