Our last full day was beautiful and sunny, which was a great way to end our trip! I tried to sleep in after nursing Annie in bed due to my overindulgence in beer and wine the night before, but those damn kids sure are loud! Annie was a fricking mess this morning. Snot everywhere, drool. Man oh man. I got some of THE GROSSEST pics of here. Observe:
Oh man. Those snot bubbles are something else.
At least she cleans up well.
This ruffle shirt just kills me (thanks to Grandma!)
After breakfast and a bit of playtime for the girls (and a complete meltdown from Annie), we walked into town to get cheap McDonalds ice cream cones, I think they were less than $1 which was awesome. We walked down to the ferry dock again too, to get our last glimpses of the town of Playa del Carmen.
At least she stopped screaming... and allowed us to sunscreen up her feet

In much better spirits
Annie greatly enjoys ripping apart kleenex
Found another babe
The beach was looking pretty sweet on our walk home
At some point that morning, Sergio the caretaker stopped by so we could figure out our menu for that night. We wanted to have a chef come in and cook our last meal, he told us that his mom is the chef, so we thought that sounded great! He e-mailed us a long list of food she could make, and we used google translator to figure out what all of it was :) It basically was a large choice of meats and veggie fillings to go in tortillas, with sides of beans and rice. We arranged for her to come over at 7pm, so we could eat around 7:30, after the girls were in bed.
We spent the rest of the day lounging by the pool, and had one last photoshoot at the beach, which you briefly saw before. I was pretty much ready to come home by this point - it was really getting hot, and I wanted my bed again! I even missed work a little :)
No wind for once!
My PT sister nearly had a heart attack when she saw this. Don't fret, Liz, we don't frequently hold Annie from her arms like this :)
Ben, Annie and I took a sunset walk on the beach on our last night too - Annie honestly wasn't too in love with it and was kind of fussy, but at least we got in one last walk on the beach!
Two women arrived with our food at around 7:15, and quickly warmed it up and served it for us - it was all sooooo good. I loved the peppers in some sort of cream sauce the best, and the pork.... and the guacamole. Oh yes, it was the perfect way to end our trip!
On Saturday, we were woken up early by a screaming Annie at 6am - very odd for her! Even after nursing, she was still pretty cranky, so we were dreading the flight. Our taxi came at 8:40 and Annie basically screamed the entire ride there, almost finally passing out when we were driving into the airport - great! The line to check in to Sun Country flights was massive, and took us over an hour - and then we had to rush to our flight, go through security twice (!??!) only to get down to realize it wasn't our flight at all, but a bus that was waiting to take us to our flight. Where we waited, and waited... finally we got driven to the plane, and all got on - pretty much immediately we took off which was nice since we were already late! Annie was actually pretty good in the airport despite being cooped up in her stroller the entire time. She was pretty angry as we got on the plane though, what with being exhausted and all. We sat next to a middle aged guy who was really nice, but I felt bad for him. Luckily, eventually after nursing on takeoff, Annie fell asleep for an hour. She was still cranky when she woke up, but wouldn't go back to sleep. We managed to keep her somewhat happy with food, and toys, and walking around but there were a few meltdowns in there too! All in all, it wasn't horrible... which I can say almost a month later :)
This was such an awesome trip, and I really wish we could do something like this annually. I do love going to new places though, so I don't think we could swing that as well as also visiting somewhere new each year! The warm weather vacation in February is pretty much key to surviving winter in Minnesota though, so I think it is worth it for your sanity alone if you can at all afford it!
