NOW Annie has been out in the world longer than she was in my belly - officially. Thursday to be exact. She seemed particularly excited about it on that day :) Our week started off on Monday with Annie's 9 month well baby visit. Here are her stats:
Weight: 18lbs,5oz 41%
Height: 26.25in 12%
Head: 17.52in 66%
She wanted to re-weigh herself :)
The doctor seemed unconcerned that she is so short. He said height is the least accurate measurement in babies. For some reason it bothers me though :) Where did this short kid come from!? I'm 5'9'' and Ben is 6'2''! I measured her again at home and I think she's at LEAST 27 inches :) We chatted about our upcoming trip to Mexico, what kinds of food Annie eats, and that was about it. He said she looks great and she's right on track developmentally. We also all got our flu shots. Ben and I were SO sore the next few days, but Annie didn't even cry!
We have been trying to be better about brushing Annie's teeth before she goes to bed - we only remember about 50% of the time though...
The sheet we got at the doctor's office has a bunch of info on what Annie might like and what she should be doing. One of the items was "May enjoy games such as peek-a-boo and So Big." I was not aware that "so big" was a GAME, per se. I have seen people talk about the ability to "do" so big as if it's a milestone or something and I always thought that was kind of weird. Like how do they know to do "so big" if no one says it to them?! We have been "playing" this "game" a few times this week and low and behold, Annie gets a huge smile on her face. Babies are strange.
Annie has definitely started climbing and kind of pulling up more - we have no stairs that she is ever near, so I took her to the bottom of the stairs one night and put something on the 2nd stair to see if she'd pull up to get it and she did. So it's good to know that she CAN, even if she doesn't really care to! She has been climbing on our laps more, and grabbing at the coffee table, so it might not be long now before she is pulling up on that too. Right now she pulls up to her knees and tries to chew the table. Beautiful :)
As I mentioned in my post about Ben's thumb, Annie also has started crawling longer distances - one night she was apparently just bored so she went wandering around, found my diaper bag, dug inside to find her sippy cup, and just sat there drinking happily - it was pretty hilarious.
Crawling around
Daylight saving time (Ben made sure to correct me when I originally was saying daylight savingS time - that apparently is incorrect. VERY little known fact.) happened today and I was super nervous about Annie waking up really early, but she did great today at least - she woke up really late yesterday (7:45) which helped a lot, and she ended up sleeping until 7am today. We just kept the same schedule today as usual, naps at 10 and 2, so hopefully the adjustment doesn't impact her much.
As I mentioned in my last weekly update, I did eliminate a nursing session this weekend, so now we're nursing at wake up, after each nap, and bedtime. She's still having 3 meals, but we're giving her a bit more now. She didn't seem to care about the missed session, but I did notice that her naps were kind of crappy all weekend. Not sure that is linked at all. I, however, definitely DO notice the missed session. I definitely have an oversupply, and I rarely complain about it because I know it is a good problem to have, but I'm pretty often in pain from engorgement. I think part of it comes from pumping too much at work or something. As you may recall from my day in the life post, I routinely pump 12-15oz in my first pumping session at work, however Annie probably only eats 6-7 oz. It worked out when she was having 3 bottles while I'm at work because I only pumped twice, but now that she'll only be taking 2 bottles while I'm at work I need to cut myself off so my supply can hopefully regulate. This weekend's pain is making me dread the mere thought of weaning completely. I know it'll be a slow process but even eliminating one feeding over 2 days has been painful. Yikes!
Oh, I almost forgot about another lovely update of this week. Annie has been hating diaper changes for awhile, but this week it has been taken to a new level of arching back and freaking out. She has also begun to do this when we put her in the carseat too. Only when we are buckling her in though. It's quite charming. It's gotten to the point where if we get NEAR the car, or the carseat, or the changing table, she gets preemptively pissed. Yay! As soon as we come in to take her out she immediately reaches for us and gets kind of pissy when we have to get her arms out of the straps. I'm just waiting for the day that she understands that NO MATTER WHAT, she will always have to go into the carseat and get her diaper changed. These things are non-negotiable. We just laugh now, because, come on. Life just isn't that bad for her.
Distracted by a shiny book
Here are some other random photos and videos from the week!
Annie was a little frightened of this tennis ball - she would barely touch it!
Annie and Madeline can look back at this photo when they are 17 and stealing booze from our liquor cabinets - they were drinking buddies from the start :)
I just love this video - it's from my new camera which takes video - still working out how to get it focused correctly!
My college roommates and I got together tonight with our kiddos -my how our gatherings have changed :)
Rebekah stood Annie up on Adelaide's walker wagon (which "Annie" has on her Christmas list!) - hopefully if she does get it for Christmas, Annie figures out the whole "putting one foot in front of the other" concept because as of now she just stands there like..... "uh, I'm scared guys. What the heck do I do now?!"

My friends, Alisa and Kevin call it "noodle" when Zoe freaks out and makes it difficult to put her in a stroller or car seat. I guess it's the start of wanting to be independent? Fun post!
ugh, she is SO stinking cute.
The 'so big' game boggles my mind, too. I just don't get it, but Truman loves when I tell him he's 'soooooo big!" :) Weird.
The height measurement is always the biggest crock of crap, I agree with your doc. They've said Truman has SHRUNK in the past when he obviously has grown out of his footed jammies. Don't worry too much about it...but then again, since Nate and I are both tall it would probably bother me, too, if our babe was on the shorter side.
She is really on the move, huh? Amazing. I love it. And boo to the painful engorgement but again, damn---your output makes me so envious! :)
She is just such a doll! I can't believe how big she is now!
The teeth brushing is so difficult, but thankfully with Isaac walking now he just comes on into the bathroom while I'm getting ready and I hand him his toothbrush.
Lol at "babies are strange." Indeed they are!
I hope that the weaning gets easier!
Oh my gosh, that toothbrushing pic is so so cute. I always love reading your updates and seeing the adorable photos!
